TBA member, Julio Figueroa has been working closely with the scientists from Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden on a mango project. In addition to identification and taxonomy, he has drawn from life every aspect of each species, from flowers, to leaves, to fruits. A scientific paper will be published, Julio will be a contributing author.This intensive labor has taken Julio many months to complete and now culminates in five new watercolor illustrations that will be exhibited at the FTBG Mango Festival, together with all the original mango illustrations that he has painted for Fairchild over the years.
Look for Julio’s exhibit during this year's Mango Festival at FTBG. Sure to be a great show! July 12 -13.
Our exhibition of Diatom paintings, In Deep, will be up for 2 weeks at the Konza LTER (Long-term Ecological Research) - Konza Prairie Biological Station, Manhattan, Kansas. The exhibition will take place during the Annual Meeting of the LTER Science Council Meeting (including all North American LTER sites). Evelyn Gaiser, Professor in Biological Science, Florida International University & South East Environmental Research & Principal Investigator for the local LTER) will be representing the Florida Coastal Everglades LTER. May 10 - 16, 2014.

TBA members, Elsa Nadal and Silvia Bota will be presenting a lecture on botanical art in Spanish and English, May 17th, 2014. The lecture will held at the West - Dade Regional Library in Miami.

On August 2nd, Jimi Sadle of Everglades National Park will present an English lecture on Botanical Exploration in the Everglades to accompany our traveling exhibit of the same name. The lecture will take place at Miami - Dade County Main Library downtown.
